Mr. McCue was hands down my favorite teacher at SHS. I co-produced the 2005 SHS video yearbook and I will never forget the support he provided to me and to all his students. I am sending big hugs to his entire family. - Colleen (McQuinn) Shannon

In this life, my brother Marty was a unicorn; that most mythical of beasts. He was a GREAT man, with a loving soul, a kind heart, and a quick wit that brought with it a beautiful smile and ever present laugh. Throughout his life he was a prankster. He wrote hilariously funny songs with Jeff, his best friend in high school and college. Years later, he entertained us with stories of the shenanigans he and his friends from kiddie hood, high school and college had engaged. We all laughed until we cried. Marty’s sense of comedy and his creativity, were so much a part of his essence. He was always in pursuit of his next comedic video endeavor, another gift of laughter for us all. No doubt, he had his eyes set on Millie, their new puppy.
I will be forever grateful that God brought Marty and Lynda together, the love of his life. As well as her children, and the six little girls who followed over the years, who loved their Grampy Coo as Marty and I had loved our Grampa Coo.
Marty died too soon, leaving a void in the lives of all who loved him; all who wanted to experience the next phase of life within his orbit.
“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, God calls a butterfly” (author unknown)
“A butterfly lights like a sunbeam, and for a brief moment it’s glory and beauty belong to our world. But then it flies on again, and though we wish it could have stayed, we feel so lucky to have seen it” (author unknown)
“Death marks the end of a life, but not the relationship” (author unknown)
Marty, I love you to the moon and back, to infinity and beyond . Until we greet one another again. ❤️

Mr McCue was my television production teacher from 93-95 and a friend. We worked on the video yearbook together for those years. We spoke at the Christa McAuliffe foundation about producing a video yearbook. Him and I spent many nights editing and working on this ground breaking idea. He was a true visionary. In fact I still have the poster of the video yearbook he signed for me before I graduated. It said "I'd always be his favorite bonehead". I had just reconnected with him on Linkedin last year on June 1st after 26 years and had a few messages back and forth.
I am very sorry for your loss, he was truly a great man and made a positive impact on a lot of people's lives. I can tell you that he was my best friend in High School and he is the reason I graduated at all. He will always have a place in my memory as someone who influenced my live in the most positive way.

Taking his TV Production class is one of my best memories from high school. I still have copies of all the videos we made in class. He was so approachable and easy going as a teacher, and I think that made him a favorite teacher for so many. Condolences to is family.

I could write a book about Marty McCue. So many memories, and thankfully, his creativity, imagination, and comedic genius is on videotape for us to marvel for the rest of our lives.

I met Marty in 1990. It was my freshman year at Salem High and his first year teaching. He was the only teacher I ever had that treated me like an actual person as opposed to being
treated like "a student". I took a TV production class every year of high school because of him. He was the best teacher and mentor I could have ever hoped for. To this day, 32 years after we met, I use the knowledge and wisdom he imparted on me. When I found out he was gone a shadow fell across my heart. -Todd Richardson class of 1994

Mr. McCue what an amazing person. He was my favorite teacher for four years, and an amazing friend over the years. I would spend every second possible working on the video year book and talking "TV". He was the sole reason I decided to pursue television. He was an inspiration, a friend, a mentor, and just an amazing person. We talked over the years. He will be missed so much. Thank you for everything. You will always be a light in my life. To his family I am so sorry for your loss. He was one of the good ones in this world and will always be remembered that way to me. Prayers to his family and soooo many friends and students.

There are no words. Our world just got so much smaller. Marty was a great brother-in-law and we became so close as we shared many challenges over the years. Lynda you know you are loved. I am so sorry you have lost your Marty, for now. May God hold you tightly in his arms through the Holy Spirit and may he comfort you always. My favorite picture of you two......

Marty was 10 years older than me. When he left the nest to attend BU University, I was only 7 years old. He graduated college and started his professional life out of state. We never had the opportunity to truly connect the way brothers should. In March 2022, he and his wife Lynda decided to make the move to the Gulf Coast of FL., 15 minutes from my house. I was so excited, we would finally be able to truly reconnect as brothers. Unfortunately, shortly after moving, I learned more about his illness. We weren't able to do a lot together, certainly not what I hoped or envisioned. I do have fond memories of my brother throughout my life. He had a very kind soul, a constant jokester. He wrote some epic, funny songs my friend Jim and I cherished as kids. I will always remember constantly laughing in his presence, that was his gift to me, and to everyone around him.
My fondest memory was from May of 2004 when he called me up from NH where he was living, I live in Sarasota, FL., and he asked me if I wanted to go with him to the Price is Right in Hollywood California. He had two tickets. I eagerly said yes, we met at LAX, and spent 4 days in Hollywood together. That was the most time I ever spent with my brother...just the two of us. I am so grateful for that time together. He wrote a fun, very detailed short story about our Price is Right adventure, which I will posted this morning in order to share: https://www.wesellsarasota.com/our-trip-to-the-price-is-right/
Marty, I love you. May you rest in peace brother. Please give Mom and Dad a long, tight hug and a kiss for me.

I remember the hilarious songs that Marty wrote and that Bill and I listened to as kids over and over. Besides those songs which I can still sing mostly Word for Word after 35 years or so I have a few other vivid memories of Marty making us laugh hysterically. Although I may have only seen him a few times, he definitely had an impact on my life as his songs and jokes were “viral” for Bill and I before they coined that word. Condolences to all the family each of you have meant so much to me.

Marty, You are my amazing big brother. Growing up I always remembered you laughing, smiling, and pulling a prank on one of us. In your adulthood you kept that amazing sense of humor we all adored. You approached life-all its gifts and challenges with a calm, confident, gentleness about you - I admire you so very much. I love you with all of my heart, and will miss you forever.... Patty
