Jane Glennan

Obituary of Jane Glennan

Jane “Janey” Mullaney Glennan, most recently of Venice, FL, cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 16, 2022, at the age of 64, after an 18-year battle with breast cancer. As in life, she was surrounded by love and laughter of family and friends.

Born on September 22, 1957, in Brooklyn, NY, to John and Jane Mullaney, Janey was raised in Huntington, Long Island, graduated from Boston College in 1979, and eventually settled in New Hampshire where she met and married her husband, Rick, and raised their two daughters.

She had a long career as an event planner for various non-profits and educational institutions and for several years owned and operated a women’s clothing boutique in her beloved coastal Maine, where she spent every summer with her family.

Janey enjoyed many things, among them: reading, gardening, scouring the beaches of Maine for sea glass and watching Red Sox/Patriots games or Rachel Maddow with her husband.

She will be remembered as a bright, spirited, and hilarious woman with a penchant for making friends anywhere she went.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rick Glennan, of Venice, Florida; daughter Meaghan Glennan of Chatham, New York, and her partner, Jerome Sabbagh; daughter Courtney Glennan, son-in-law Michael Bishop, and granddaughter Fiona Mullaney Bishop of Washington D.C.; brother John Mullaney and his wife Barbara Sawhill of Woolwich, Maine; brother Jeffrey Mullaney and his wife Susan Kline of Washington D.C., and adoring nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life event is being planned for September on the coast of Maine.

In lieu of flowers and in support of Janey’s fierce advocacy for basic human decency and equal rights, donations can be made through Vote Save America or to the appropriate Democratic candidate in your state or district. Donations can also be made to Southeastern Guide Dogs Inc., which transforms lives by creating and nurturing partnerships between people and dogs.
