I have known Grady for 60 years, first as a Scout Master when I was 11, as a peer in the business community, and in serving on various boards together in the community. He was always a man of impeccable character and, as my wife Judy has said since she met him, the consumate Southern gentleman. We are unable to attend today because we are babysitting our 2 yr old twin grandchildren. Our condolences to the family and to the Venice Community. We have truly lost a wonderful person and citizen.

I have worked for Hough & Company for 18 years. Grady was a kind man, mentor and boss. He was the type of person to call the office to see how my husband and kids were, even though he had been retired for years. He has lived a long, fulfilled life and leaves a legacy behind. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time. RIP old friend, Stacy

I am so sorry to learn of Grady's passing. He was a most remarkable man, and my friend. He was my Judo instructor many years ago when the YMCA was under the Venice Ave bridge. He was a good friend of my father's and he and I reconnected in Rotary years later. We nearly shared a birthday, but every year would wish each other a mutually happy birthday. There is not enough that can be said about this amazing man. I wish I had spent more time with him this last year. The world has become a darker place with his passing.

Grady was one of the best athletes from VHS, and has his name on the Kappelman trophy, which still exists. Thank you, Grady, for all you've done throughout the years, and rest easy.
