Obituary of Mary Anne Rhodes

Mary Anne Rhodes, 94, passed away on May 7, 2022, in Venice, FL. She was born in Benton Harbor, MI on September 19, 1927, to William and Florence Kuschel. Mary Anne grew up in St. Joseph, MI and worked as a Civil Servant at Berrien County Administration. She also owned and operated the Craft & Trim Shop in St. Joseph, MI for many years, and worked in various Kuschel family businesses.

Mary Anne enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was a very active member of the Venice Quilt Guild and often the winner of “Best Quilt”. She will be remembered as a loving grandmother.

Mary Anne is predeceased by her husband Robert J. Rhodes, parents WA and Florence Kuschel, and brothers William H. Kuschel and Thomas C. Kuschel.

She is survived by her sister Paula Kuschel of East Lansing, MI, sons Bryce Culverhouse of Lafayette, IN and Mark Culverhouse of Fort Lauderdale, FL, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 790 S Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34285, on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 11:00AM, with placement in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Memorial Gardens to be with her husband.

In lieu of flowers, please plant something in her memory, as Mary Anne loved gardening.
