Obituary of Gertrude Carter

Gertrude Carter, 86, passed away in Venice, FL on April 8, 2022. She was born December 22, 1935, in East Pittsburgh, PA to Raymond Tubbs and Gertrude Tubbs Snyder. After Graduating from high school, Gertrude studied bookkeeping and accounting. She worked as a bookkeeper at The National Credit Association, where she was later promoted into management for many years until retirement. She married her late husband, William J. Carter in 1957 and continued to live in the Pittsburgh area near family. They loved traveling and retired to Venice to enjoy the ocean and sunshine.

 

Gertrude enjoyed gardening her flowers inside and out around the house and deeply cared for her family and friends. Her positive attitude and devout faith were extremely contagious. Her love and kindness touched many over the years. She was a member of the Epiphany Cathedral Catholic Church.

 

Gertrude is predeceased by her husband William J. Carter, her parents Raymond Tubbs and Gertrude Tubbs Snyder, sister Ruth (John) Martino and brother Raymond (Lois) Tubbs.

 

She is survived by her daughter Sandra (Thomas) Pirosko, grandsons Thomas (Melissa) Pirosko and Bryan (Shannon) Pirosko along with six beautiful great grandchildren who loved sending her pictures and their own artwork drawings. She adored her two sisters Catherine Spinozzi and Dolores Synder, who she talked with often, and her dearest friend and sister by choice, Nancy Zemarel. She was blessed with many wonderful nieces, nephews, and their families.

 

There will be a graveside service held at Sarasota National Cemetery, 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
