Obituary of Maria Manuela Hudson

Maria Manuela Hudson, age 95, of Venice, Florida, died peacefully at Tidewell Venice Hospice on April 8th. She is survived by her sisters Rafaela and Gabriela, brother Rodrigo, daughter Lisa, son Larry, and granddaughter Lindsey. She was preceded in death by her brother Paul and husband Clyde. 

Manuela was born on the island of St. George, in the Portuguese Azores, on December 23, 1926. She emigrated to the United States after marrying Clyde, an American Air Forceman. After living in Virginia, Alaska, and Nebraska, they settled in Seekonk, Massachusetts, where she worked as a bilingual education teacher’s aide, teacher, and curriculum writer. After retirement, she and Clyde moved to Venice, where they enjoyed the warm of friends, family, and the Florida sunshine. 

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes church,1301 Center Road, Venice, at 9:30 am on April 19th, followed by an outdoor reception at Venetian Gardens, 1450 Venice East Blvd, Venice. Donations may be made to the Tidewell Foundation, 3550 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34239.
