Vilma Carboni

Obituary of Vilma Carboni

Vilma D. Carboni fought COVID-19 with all her heavenly might, but the disease took her from us on February 19th, 2022 at the blissful age of 89. She was born on April 29, 1932 in New London, CT, where she met the one and only love of her life and husband, Lino, whom she wed on July 14th, 1951. They moved to Rhode Island and established their family and businesses in Cumberland. Vilma was the owner and operator of Vilma’s Hairstyling Salon, where she lovingly and joyfully worked over the years with her two sisters, Dianna, Sylvia, and her niece, Cindy, until she retired to Florida in 1989 with her husband Lino and daughter, Christina. Her son, Michael, resides in AZ where Vilma visited often, especially at Christmas, to create lasting memories with her three wonderful and gifted grandchildren, Cara, Craig, and Curt.

When one thinks of Vilma, kindness, loving, classy, and most importantly, family, are the words to describe her tenacious and timeless soul. She is survived by her daughter Christina M. (David Soltow) Carboni of Port Charlotte, FL, her son Michael J. (Jodi) Carboni of Gilbert, AZ, her brother Bruno (Connie) Buldrighini of Cumberland, RI, her sister Sylvia (Roger) Baril of Port Charlotte, FL, her 3 grandchildren, Cara (Brett) Dusek, Craig (Fadumo) Carboni, and Curt Carboni, her nieces and nephews Cindy, Kathy, Debbie, Brenda, Billy, Roger, Lisa, Brian, Marjorie, Dawn, Todd, John, Laurie, Lisa, Julie, and her many grand-nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lino J., who passed in July of 1996, her father, Guisseppe Buldrighini, and mother, Valentina Ballestrini, both originally from Tresa and Fano, Italy, and her sister Dianna (Bill) Meehan of Sagamore Beach, MA. A mass will be held for Vilma in the chapel of San Pedro’s Parish in North Port, Florida on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 10 a.m. Vilma will then eternally join her husband in the San Pedro Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Vilma Carboni Cosmetology Scholarship Fund at the Charlotte Technical College at 18150 Murdock Circle, Port Charlotte, FL, 33948.
