Obituary of John D. Wortmann

John D. Wortmann, age 92, of Peachtree City, GA and formerly of Englewood, FL, died on February 28, 2006 at the Fayette Piedmont Hospital, Fayetteville, GA. He was born on May 28, 1913 in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Florida in 1972 from St. Louis, MO. He was an Insurance Executive for The Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford, CT for 32 years. He was a United States Marine Veteran during WWII. He was the founder and first president of Myakka Pines Golf Club; a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church, Englewood, FL; Elks Lodge # 2378 and a life member of the 3rd Marine Division Association. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Constance Wortmann (nee Randall) of Peachtree City, GA; sons, John “Randy” Wortmann of Peachtree City, GA and Bruce R. Wortmann, of Bloomfield, IA; brother, Daniel E. Wortmann of Englewood, FL and 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchilden A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 1:00 PM at St. David’s Episcopal Church, Englewood, FL.
