Obituary of Maurice Bob Chalres Porter

Maurice “Bob” Charles Porter, age 88, of Venice, FL and Fort Mill, SC; died on March 22, 2006 at the Hospice House of Venice, FL. He was born on June 4, 1917 in Somerset New York. He was a Steam Fitter in the construction industry and also spent many years as an owner and operator of a restaurant and convenience store in the suburbs of New York until his retirement in 1979. He has wintered in Venice for 25 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran during WWII. He was a member of the Steam Fitter Union Local # 22 in New York and he attended the Venice Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lois A. Porter (nee Luebke) of Venice, FL and Fort Mill, SC; daughter, Wendy J. Porter of Charlotte, NC; and nephew Charles Cook and family of Amherst, NY. No Services are scheduled at the time. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in his name to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care; 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 or the Church of the Nazarene, 1535 E. Venice Avenue, Venice, FL 34292.
