Mary L. Furtado, 75, of North Port, Florida, passed away on February 9, 2022. She was born on February 3, 1947 in Providence, RI to Thomas and Louise. Over her lifetime, she worked in the healthcare, accounting, jewelry and education fields. Most recently, until she was too ill, she was a Foster Grandparent classroom volunteer through the Dr. Piper Center for Social Services. She is remembered for her devotion to her family as well as her sense of humor and giving spirit.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Furtado. She leaves two sons, David of Los Angeles, California, Steven and wife Andrea of Connecticut and one daughter, Laura Stromberg and husband John of North Port, Florida and grandchildren: Emily, Haylee, William, Blake, Ashley, Saoirse and Soren as well as one great-granddaughter, Aurora. She also leaves behind her sister, Maureen (William) Wombolt, her sister Marguerite Prins (predeceased) as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A service will be held on April 8th at 10am at San Pedro Catholic Church, North Port, FL followed by a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
